Vaccine against Rabies for both Prophylactic and Post Exposure use. Raksharab Vaccine contains inactivated rabies virus with a potency > 1.0 I.U. per dose. The virus is propagated in BHK-21 Cell line, inactivated with an aziridine compound and concentrated. Aluminium hydroxide is added as an adjuvant.


INDIAN IMMUNOLOGICALS was set up by National Dairy Development Board in 1982. Vaccine manufacturing plant is situated in Hyderabad. Raksharab is one of the most trusted vaccines of IIL.

Product safety and Hazard:

The product is safe and classified as Non-hazardous as it does not trigger a minimum degree of hazard.

Side Effects:

  • Swelling at the side of administration.
  • Mild fever
  • Listlessness


It is a most used anti-rabies vaccine in India. Most of the government institutions and animal welfare societies prefer this vaccine. Most cost effective and trustworthy vaccine available in India.

1ml s/c in all age and breeds.

A number of doses: one dose if administered after 3 month age. If the first dose is administered before 3 month age then administer another dose after 3 month age.

Route of administration: subcutaneously, which is the very convenient route of administration.

Duration of Immunity & Revaccination:

For 3 years. Revaccinate yearly in endemic states.

Occasionally a mild anaphylactic – type hypersensitivity reaction may occur after vaccination. This type of reaction can occur after the injection of any foreign protein and is, in most cases, self – limiting.
